Join Catherine Shotick, inaugural director of the highly anticipated Westerly Museum of American Impressionism as she discusses how artists working along the Northeast coast shaped a distinctly American interpretation of Impressionism. Drawing from works in the museum’s collection, she examines key artist colonies—from Ogunquit, Maine, to Cape Ann, Old Lyme, and coastal Rhode Island—where painters responded directly to the region’s light, atmosphere, and seasonal rhythms. Through selected case studies, the presentation considers how place, community, and environment informed both subject matter and technique, resulting in paintings that are at once regionally grounded and central to the broader narrative of American art.

Join The Watch Hill Conservancy for a sunset stroll in The Napatree Point Conservation Area! Celebrate the beauty of late summer with an unforgettable evening in the Napatree Point Conservation Area! Join us for a guided 2-mile sunset walk under the last full moon of the summer solstice. As the sun sets over Little Narragansett Bay, we'll explore the wonder of Napatree’s nightlife that becomes active at dusk. During the walk, we will keep an eye out for a variety of nocturnal and coastal wildlife, including: Bats Night Herons Dogfish Horseshoe Crabs Whelks Rabbits Minks Skunks Deer Opossum Migratory Birds Our Science Advisors and Napatree Naturalists will provide a short lecture on the migratory birds & bat activity in the Napatree Point Conservation Area -- participants will even get to experience using a bat call detector! As darkness falls, we'll gather to observe the full moon through a spotting scope. Light snacks and beverages will be provided! Event Details Time: 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM Distance: Approximately 2 miles (moderate walking on sand and uneven terrain) What to Bring: Comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, insect repellent, water. Please utilize the free parking along Bay Street as the parking limitations are not in effect at the time of this program. Rain will cancel these events. Join us for a yoga session suitable for ALL LEVELS, while surrounded by the natural beauty of the Napatree Point Conservation Area! Join the Watch Hill Conservancy and Chris Liguori, owner of Yogastha Living, for a practice that includes breath work, stretching and a gentle Vinyasa flow that promotes vitality in the peaceful surroundings of the Napatree Point Conservation Area. Expect a welcoming, supportive practice that blends gentle flow, mindful movement, breathwork, meditation, and relaxation to nurture both body and mind. Suitable for all levels! Chris is certified in Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and meditation, bringing a holistic approach to wellness that integrates yogic wisdom, mindfulness, and self-care. We welcome new and experienced yogis, so come as you are and leave feeling grounded, and more connected to local nature and yourself. What to Expect: Gentle, accessible yoga suitable for all levels Mindful breathing and meditation Relaxation in a beautiful natural setting Heart-centered practices for self-care and well-being A welcoming atmosphere Arrive 10 minutes prior to start. Dive Into Little Narragansett Bay: A Marine Life & Watershed Adventure!
We welcome both new and experienced birders to join us in exploring the variety of bird species in the Napatree Point Conservation Area. We welcome both new and experienced bird watchers to join us in exploring the variety of bird species in the Napatree Point Conservation Area, recognized as a "Globally Important Bird Area" by the National Audubon Society. During our 2-mile walk, we'll observe and learn about these beautiful animals, sharing our appreciation and knowledge with each other. This program is open to anyone with a desire to learn about birding or share their expertise. We encourage your curiosity and enthusiasm as we aim to foster lasting connections. A limited number of binoculars will be available for participants. Ages 10+ This program is designed to last 90 minutes so participants can utilize the free parking along Bay Street. Rain will cancel these events. Program cancellations will be communicated via email. This is a FREE program offered by The Watch Hill Conservancy. REGISTER HERE
